About Mojo's House

Mojo's House is a site dedicated to the brain-spilling of a young man and his family in the Pacific Northwest.

What the heck is Mojo's House?

For Mojo and his family, this will be the shouting place. Our pictures, news about the family, and anything else we can think of, will be right here. That is one of the beautiful things about having our own domain and website. We don't fit into the box, so we made our own.

But just who is Mojo? And why the hell does he have a house on the internet?

That is a fair question. Mojo, is a programmer, specifically, a developer for CGI (formerly Codesic Consulting), in Kirkland, WA. On some sites (2 + 2 , and some other message boards), he is known simply as "Mojo, the programmer." He's also a father, a geek, and a devistatingly handsome man. As per the whole "house on the internet" thing, he just wanted a place that was truly his own. Someplace that wouldn't whine about content, or try to get him to involve his friends / family in some stupid "invitation thing." He wants the opportunity to shout from a mountaintop, not from the same pissant hill that everyone else is on.

So with that, read, peruse, enjoy. We'll do our best to get content up here. Please do your best, and donate money to us.

Ok, that last part was a joke. Kinda.

What's here at Mojo's House.

There are a few of major things here.

Honestly, the initial plan was to have an online creative writing 'zine. That didn't immediately pan out, but it's still a thought. Maybe, in the future, we'll get that idea pushed into reality, but for now, the site's primarily a shouting ground for me, my wife, and my kids (once they get old enough to shout anything coherent.) We'll put our pictures here, our blogs here, and if we can, some movies, or general stuff we want to publish. The internet, for all the ads and garbage, is really a nice spot to feel like you've said your peace, regardless of who reads it.

That's what Mojo's House is for. Thanks for checking up on us.

The Technology

This part will not be interesting to a majority of the world. However, if your'e a C# developer, this may be of some interest to you.

This site is an ASP.NET 2.0 site, made by me. I'm a .NET developer, and have been developing tools in .NET for about 5 years now. The structure is based off of an author/publish model, where there are given 'categories' of content (i.e., photos, blog entries), but also a non-categorized section. The administrative workload is done with an administrative section of the site, and is a simple page "creator." It's content is backed by a series of XML files, and some webservices have been created (under the administrative portion of the site) to allow for me to create a tool for my wife to upload pictures (and stuff) in bulk. To request the source code, Contact Mojo. A more thorough document containing the process flow and architecture are coming.

One thing that's really nice is having a .NET 2.0 friendly hosting provider. Brinkster has been my choice for quite a while now (since .NET 1.0). Check 'em out, cause $5 a month is a pretty good deal.

A Note About Chess Commentary

Mojo is not highly rated. Anyone with any knowledge of the game will see that almost instantly... but please, only use my commentary as a way of providing yourself some entertainment, and if you're a beginner maybe an opportunity to learn something. However, if you're looking to break the 2000 rating, my musings should be nothing more than dust in the wind.
